Service or resourceWhat PointFive analyzes
Warehouse sizingAuto-suspend tuning, warehouse sizing, multi-cluster configuration, and idle warehouse detection.
Query efficiencyExpensive query patterns, full table scans, inefficient joins, and repeated query identification.
Storage usageUnused tables, excessive Time Travel retention, clone cleanup, and data sharing cost analysis.
Auto-suspend settingsIdentify warehouses with suboptimal suspend settings burning credits during idle periods.
Credit attributionAllocate Snowflake credit consumption to teams, projects, and workloads for accountability.
Cloud and Snowflake usageUnified Snowflake and cloud infrastructure savings that Snowflake-only tools can't find.

Frequently asked questions

For discovery, PointFive uses a read-only Snowflake user with minimal privileges to access metadata and usage statistics. Connect through guided onboarding. Discovery uses read-only access. Automated remediation uses customer-authorized permissions, and each customer chooses how changes are approved: per change, once for a trusted playbook, or not at all.

PointFive optimizes warehouse compute credits, storage costs, serverless feature usage, Time Travel retention, and data transfer costs. We identify both quick wins and deep architectural optimizations.

Snowflake provides budgets, resource monitors, and cost insights. PointFive adds DeepWaste detection, finding warehouse auto-suspend gaps, query pattern waste, and cross-stack optimization between Snowflake and your cloud infrastructure.

Query text analysis is strictly opt-in. By default, PointFive only analyzes query metadata (duration, credits, warehouse) for optimization recommendations without accessing query content.
